Roundin' the Bend

I didn’t shop for school supplies this year

I didn’t go get uniforms

or stand in line for fear

That I would miss the latest craze

In the latest fashion trend

or fight the traffic back to school

where car pool lines don’t end

My job has been reduced

to fixing breakfast, maybe lunch

but sometimes life’s too hurried

and her time is in a crunch.

I guess I should be thankful

That I have the time of peace

That I can read or sit a while

Enjoy my life of ease

But for all the times

I wished for this

And all the times I pined

I’d do it all again if I could just rewind

The clock to back when

what I now miss

and makes me feel deprived...

What’s that you ask

No she’s not gone

It’s just that she can drive!
